Porsche 911 Carrera S (2025): More power, less transmission
And here we go again. After all, what would a Porsche 911 portfolio be without tons of different Porsche 911s? Zuffenhausen is thus gradually filling the gaps in the 992 facelift (992.2 in connoisseur speak). After the Carrera, the Carrera GTS with the great new T-Hybrid and the 911 GT3, the Carrera S is now also enjoying a facelift.
The most important feature for the "faster-higher-further" faction: There is of course more power. The boys and girls from the 911 engine forge have elicited 30 hp more power from the 3.0-litre biturbo boxer engine (Porsche now cheekily refers to it as "iconic" in the press release) thanks to new turbochargers and the intercooling design from the 911 Turbo. This makes a total of 480 hp and 530 Nm. This corresponds to the power of the old 911 GTS. Or that of a 997.1 Turbo.
In terms of acceleration values, however, the old turbo would not see any land. From 0-100 km/h, the lifted Carrera S takes only 3.3 seconds, and the top speed is 308 km/h. There is no information yet on consumption, Porsche only speaks of "additional efficiency". In case you're wondering why we don't have our own values for the manual version, it's because there is no longer a manual version. The only option in the new Carrera S is the 8-speed PDK. The Swabians do not give a reason for this for the time being.
Fans of three pedals (and all other customers) will be put off with extended standard equipment. This now includes 20-/21-inch wheels with mixed tyres, Torque Vectoring Plus, which is not available for the normal Carrera, the thick brakes from the current 911 GTS with 408 mm discs at the front and 380 mm discs at the rear, and the sports exhaust system with silver tailpipes.
If you want to make the pants even thicker in terms of driving dynamics, you can optionally get the PCCB ceramic brakes as well as the adaptive PASM sports suspension with 10 mm lowering and rear-axle steering. Optimizations to the dampers are supposed to provide more precision and a finer response. Those who order rear-axle steering also receive a more directly geared steering system and a newly adapted front-axle kinematics, which is intended to increase the agility of the vehicle.
The hot news in the interior of the facelift-992 is the first use of a start button (to the left of the steering wheel, of course) and the new, fully digital instruments. This is also the case with the Carrera S. Otherwise, Porsche advertises with a significantly expanded leather interior. It includes, among other things, the cover of the glove box, the side panels and the seat floor. On request, Porsche adds contrasting stitching in chalk.
In general, the Carrera S benefits from the upgraded standard equipment of the overall model series. These include, for example, Matrix LED headlights or a wireless smartphone charging option. Options include a lift system for the front axle and HD matrix LED headlights.
The new 911 Carrera S is now available to order as a coupé and cabriolet with rear-wheel drive. Prices for the 911 Carrera S in Germany start at 154,800 euros for the coupé. The convertible costs from 169,000 euros. Quite interesting: Almost exactly six years ago, we tested the pre-facelift Carrera S - base price at the time: 120,129 euros. By comparison, the new Carrera GTS with the 540-hp hybrid starts at 170,000 euros as a coupé.
